Geoffrey Shamu won a Premier Prix de Trompette at the centralized competition of the Conservatoires de la Ville de Paris (France). He regularly performs with orchestras including the orchestra of Odyssey Opera, the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Indian Hill.  In addition to the Riverside Brass Ensemble, he collaborates with the flamenco-infused project ¡Con Fuego!, and the contemporary music ensemble Alea III. With these chamber groups he has appeared at such festivals as Summer Music from Greensboro, Vermont, The BU Tanglewood Institute Faculty Concert Series in Lenox, Massachusetts, and the Hellenic Festival in Epidaurus, Greece. As a soloist, Mr. Shamu has performed with the Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Cité, the Orchestre de Cuivres de Paris, and—with organ and the choir of St. Michael's Church—at Notre Dame Cathedral.  A versatile player, Geoff has played for countless musical show productions, spent several years performing and recording with the reggae band Pressure Cooker—and just about everything in between.

His teachers include Terry Everson, Mark Gould, Stephen Jones, Timothy Morrison, Pierre Gillet, and Pierre Thibaud—with whom he studied for several years after coming to Paris on a Harriet Hale Woolley Fellowship. Geoffrey holds Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from Boston University, and an A.B. cum laude in Music from Harvard College.
